Sound stopped working

dont know what happened to it. all of a sudden my sound isnt working. speakers all plugged in right, nothing is muted, and havent changed my sound configurations recently. its making me mad

I get the same....

it cuts out sometime for no apparent reason.. be it mid-song (mp3) of mid game of whatever... just cuts out... and very occasionally, comes back again later...

no idea why..

are you using the m/board in-built sound?? I am.. maybe it's that??

Two things I've seen that cause this. May not help you at all though - good luck.

1. Is your soundcard plugged into the right socket on the back of the soundcard. On my soundcard you need to get a torch down there to read the crappy symbols.
2. Does your sound card use Digital Sound out - which has turned itself off on my PC a couple of times. On XP I think you get to this through Control Panel / Sound and Audio Devices (but my office PC won't let me get at it).
