Hello.

Basicly what's happened is, I had to recline my passenger seat right the way back in order to get all my bags in the car, when I went on a course.
Now I can't get it to go back to its original position.
They are Recaro's

I have played about with the leavers on either side, but nothing is working.
Is it a garage job or does anyone have any other ideas?
I'm not too good with a set of spanners, so doing anything mechanical myself is probably out of the question, unless really simple.
Having spoken to a few people who have had this problem they tell me it's going to cost about £400 to repair.
Has anyone on here had the problem, or know of a fix?

Well you will need to take the seat out if nothing is working, there is a cable under side which connects to the back they can get stuck, its not a big fix but you ideally

You could go to a garage you could go to one of the mini independents, you have 2 which are about equal distance, the closest is thinkmini and the next is 1320 both will be able to help you out. It may be worth ringing them to see what advice they can give you or maybe email them.

Sometimes moving the seat forward and back can help to solve the problem.

Hi

I did read somewhere a while back that if you fold the seat as if to get in the back and move the seat all the way forward firmly and all the way back on the runners not the recline it can reset the seat and all is well. There is something to do with a design fault where they changed the levers on later cars to stop this from happening.

Haven't tried it myself but if you haven't tried it it is worth the 30 seconds to see if it works.

It didn't fix my seat problems. Had kind of ignored it since Almondbury BMW asked me for £600 to replace them.

If you do this leave the ignition off or indeed disconnect the battery as you will be removing the seat that has an airbag in it and you don't want the airbag light on.
