I felt aftwrwards like there must be a scam, but not sure how.

Scruffy bloke approached me as I leave the dentists and I am turning my phone back on. Says his father has died and he needs to urgently contact his brther, can he use my phone? Seems genuinely upset and distraught. I dialled the mobile number ( starts 07527...)number, he spoke to someone for about 40 seconds (not sure what he said as the trafic was noisy and he turned away which given he message didn't surprise me). He thanked me and walked off in the same direction as me into town.

Some sort of phone clone scam?

Did that, and spoke with Vodafone who sait it was a normal number which they had no reports on. Looks genuine, just felt like a scam.

Not everything a stranger asks has to be a scam you know!

saying that, I'd be left wondering too!
