My GTV is due tyres again... having put some 16' 156 teledials on it they currently have 205/55/16's on them... im under the impression that the GTV should be on 205/50's

Would i be correct in assuming this?? If so ill have to replace all 4... so may aswel go for it and get decent tyres.. what comes recommended highly? Eagle F1's?? toyo proxes?? P zero's??

I think your right with the tyre size, I sold a set of 16" GTV alloys to a guy with a 156 once and I remember there was a slight difference......so ok for a while but would need changing to be correct.

And regarding tyres, I've been looking into a full new set for the GTA and Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas have excellent reveiws, are a very reasonable price and look great too!

Eagle F1s were always very popular.

I've got the Sessanta Ultracs and they are great but very noisy.

noise isnt an issue.. the seal is leaking on the door/window anyway so i get mega wind noise!

Those certainly seem to be one of the best performing tyres for a not too high price at the moment anyway.
Interesting to here the comment about the noise Rick, but if I can have top tyre performance for an almost mid range tyre price then I dont think it would bother me too much anyway.

No, that's a fair point. I would certainly get them again. They were brilliant in the snow last Winter too, which is unusual for a high performance tyre! (GSD3s for instance were a complete embarrassment).

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s are awesome tyres - think any car driving on snow would be struggling tbh unless you actually bought snow tyres.

For some reason the GSD3s are particularly bad on snow. I've tried them on three makes of sports cars with similar results: good in the dry, very good in the wet and abismal in the snow (although the switch to ultragrips solved that.) Also beware the the raylon ones are the ones that have the good reports whereas the polyester ones are of a far poorer quality so read the sidewall before you buy.

I had those on my GTV and they were superb.

You should be able to fix that by adjusting the window mechanism, I did it on both front windows of my car and it was quite simple once you get the door cards off. I am sure I found instructions on how to do it on one of the Alfa owner websites but I cannot remember which one, I will try to find it again.

+1
Had my GTV on Eagle F1s most of the time - but in the snow eek To get out of my road there is a fairly gentle uphill stretch, okay it had been compacted and polished by earlier leavers, but the poor beastie could not get up hill! rotate Fortuanately I was able to turn downhill and cut through the hospital that was across the road and had a rougher road through it, but could have been very embarassing to not be able to get the car out of the way of anyone else wanting to get to work that day!

Another vote for Vredesteins from me.

I have them all round on my 916 Spider, apart from the road noise they have been fantastic. They last a long time too.

I have the Sessanta Ultracs.
where would one be able to purchase a set of these??

First pair I got from my local tyre guy.
Second time I got them from Camskill.

Order online from Camskill, or find your nearest supplier from the Vredestein website.

If you have a decent local independant, ask them for a price to get them......most can get hold of any tyres.

Without wishing to sound alarmist - avoid F1s on a GTV like the plague!

My (recently bought) has F1s all round and they've gone all 50p shaped with humming coming from the rears. If you read the forums on alfaowner loads of people have the same problems with F1s. I've swapped them to Falken FK452s now and all is fine.

Mine did exactly that, it had F1s when I bought it. Now have Falken ZE-912s which are IMO 95% as good on grip and far quieter.

F1s don't go 50p shaped if you drive the car once in a while....I've just put the second set all round on mine since the complete lack of dramas on the first set. I love the sheer grip of the things in both the wet and the dry, which tbh is when I drive the car. I've driven in for perhaps 100 miles of snow down the M6 last year in snow and it was twitchy shifting lanes, but no more so than I'd expect from anything outside of a 4x4. 100 miles of snow v 20000 miles of wet and dry - I'm hardly putting fecking snow tyres on it.

Daily commuter, V6, still whined and went 50p shaped. F1s are not what they used to be; now then those NCT2s...
