Longbridge island holdups
Discussion
Title says it all ,but basically I'm after any info on delays on Sunday mornings ( day of the Long marston market .)Going down Oxford way ,so don't want to spend time stuck in the usual jam from the Warwick turn off to J15/M40.Got two options if there are problems
go via Warwick - but problems only show up after the 4177 turnoff
Go down M42 to join M40( I'm near M6 J3 ,so it's about another ten miles on the trip, means turning right at J3 rather than left ).
Or -any other suggestions .

I'm confused why you'd want to go Oxford way to Long Marston when it's only the other side of Stratford.?
Last time I went to that market it was more car boot and junk stuff, surely you'd be better off going to Wellesbourne Market which is even closer and a better market.
Not going to any market ( AS SAID - GOING DOWN OXFORD WAY)- ,but on Sundays ,the Longbridge island gets clogged( or used to )due to roadworks and traffic going to said market .( agreed it more car boot, and tat) , but the people going for their "bargains" don't haldf cause problems ,and with road works -DELAYS .Last time I went to that market it was more car boot and junk stuff, surely you'd be better off going to Wellesbourne Market which is even closer and a better market.
sO THAT WAS QUESTION -ARE THERE STILL PROBLEMS AND DELAYS AT LONGBRIDGE ON SUNDAY MORNINGS ( sorry to shout -it's British way of getting through
)Soz -shouldn't get angry - at least you tried to help .

Here is a less conventional option for avoiding the Longbridge tangle:-
1) A46 south from J2 M6
2) A45 / A423 eastbound to Fosseway
3) Fosseway to B4100 (B4100 runs parallel with M40 at Warwich Services)
4) Turn south onto B4100 as far as B4451 at Gaydon
5) Join M40 at Gaydon.

Know that one - but it's quicker to get off A46 junction before Longbridge and whip round Warwick (A425 then left ( a tad past Sainsbury)into Theatre St-Bowling Green St ,past the A4189 jcn ,turn left onto West street),past the racecourse to end up on Longbridge ,turn before M40 .Problem I've seen going to Long Marston/Wellesbourne is that a lot of time ,there's no sign of problems untill past services ,then a looooong delay getting to Longbridge .It's been a problem for the years that I've been going past it - and that's going back to the late 80's - even remember seeing plans for works when I was at GEC on motorway comms in 84 .That's why I asked ,in case anyone went that way on Sundays to check the Idiot flow .
Just didn't want to get off earlier if I didnt need to . In the end -didn't gamble with baby in car - he starts off when car stops -add dog thinking car stopped =getting out (so I'll remind them with a howl so baby and dog compete) - and went through Warwick .Totally uneventful trip -apart from way back - had to take relief road(a430) from A34 to M40 J10 to avoid tailback at M40 J9.( Usefull tip to anyone stuck in a jam coming off A34 to M40 at J9, going south - if the jam starts at A430 slip -get off - it's far quicker to go that way ,and it's direct)
Again thanks for taking time to reply

Havent been there myself yet at busy times but there are still plenty of roadworks there and it is still 40 throughout but the bridge / new roundabout is open. Unfortunatly they are still fannying about with the Longbridge Island so I can imagine the traffic queing will back up and yet again block up the A46
