Spare Wheel Tie-Down

Hi all,

Can someone please post photos of how the spare wheel is tied down in the boot. I have a TVR spare with its cover, but I cant seem to find any anchorage points to stop it roling around inside the boot. From the photos Ive seen, all the spare wheels seem to be tied down on the offside in the boot. Not sure if this is co-incidence or whether there are supposed to be anchorage points on that side.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

There ya go. You should have a loop in the floor and one the arch.

I havn't got a spare in mine and have always wondered how it effects getting the roof panel in the boot ? Does it still fit with the spare wheel in there too ?

It does, but it's even more of a pain in the arse!

Chimera is a doddle, Griff is a fine art, especially with the roof in the protective bag, but do able!

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. As I thought, it would seem that I am missing some tie down hooks in the boot of my Griff.

I have just today got my Griff back, having had the split roof conversion carried out on it by Surface and Design, so it will now fit in the boot along with the spare and jack.

Chimaera's must hang down the middle whereas Griff's hang to the right..!

what ever you do, DO NOT leave the spare rolling about free in the boot. I did this when I first got the car as no anchorage points and ended up with damaged body work all across the back of the car hairline cracks.... cost a minor fortune to get repaired.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to fix some tie down points into the boot and hopefully secure the spare. I will use some plate steel on the outside of the tie-down points to spread the load - in much the same way that the seatbelt/harness spreader plates do.

Nice roll bars on the Chim by the way.
