Appears there's no "Belgium" in the "Inernational" section biggrin

Anyone got any recommendations for a nice quiet bar and/or Italian restaurant somewhere pleasant in the centre of the city?

Preferably somewhere near the main train station - not sure if I'm going via Eurostar or flying yet.

Ta smile

Although Charleroi or Binge would be more handy, I suspect more folk here would know Brussels

(I'll only be there for one full day, just fancy relaxing for the evening I arrive)

Struggled to find a decent Italian last time I was there to be honest, ended up eating at a Mexican place one night (awful, don't bother) and then the Brussels Grill the other 2 nights. (recommended, great grub and good service as well.)

Cheers.

I should add that I meant Binche, not Binge. Bit of a freudian slip there biggrin

What's your budget?

Plenty of good restaurants in Brussels! Near the central station there is the Belga Queen, http://www.belgaqueen.be , or in the Sablon area Lola, http://www.restolola.be/ both in the higher end of the price scale.

Not extravagant - just looking for somewhere to chill for 2 or 3 hours before heading back to my hotel smile

I'll be there next week, was wondering about the facilities also.

Being a fan of beer I like the look of http://www.deliriumcafe.be/

Yes Delerium is a must.
We arrived at 6.30pm for a quick one before dinner and left at 2am.
Oops smile

I remember eating in a decent Italian just off Avenue Louise in Ixelles whilst working there.

The name escapes me but it is adjacent to a very good French cuisine restaurant called La Perssian.

Probably only a 30 - 40 minute commute from the airport.

Delerium was good, great selection of beers. I also really enjoyed this place:

Really good atmosphere. Still recovering from too many glasses of Still Nacht...

Traditional Belgian grub here: http://www.spinnekopke.be/
Very old fashioned and they do pigs trotters.

FFS, don't try to eat anything other than French/Belgian cusine. The Belgians are fabulous chefs.

The city is absolutely packed with good bars.
