Smart move? Will the team be good enough to give him a decent shot at the Tour in '10?

i think so, it will be tought but wiggo could lead them, some will be on a steep learning curve, others not so far behind wiggo. its whether they can sustain it for three weeks that is the unknown. no one has won a tour without a "wing man" for a long time now.

from the list of riders it looks like there is very much an "a" team and a developing team with the likes of wiggo, hayman and boasson in the former and stannard and downing in the latter.

the resources in that team are huge, brailsford, sutton, yates, its a dream team for the riders to draw expereince and support from.

it should be good, its about time resources were more evenly shared between the velodrome and the road racers! smile

Great news & agree about the need for a wing man if Wiggins isn't going to be worked over by Astana & the Schlecks again. Vande Velde or Nibali would be good...

Also great to see the team HQ in the UK at Manchester.

Who do we think they will announce in the next few days to join him then? I can't see why he would sign in the absence of some sort of agreement to support him.

I'm not really up to date with signings for 2010.

The teams stance on drugs does rule some candidates out and rightly so.

I wonder if there are any good Columbian/team Columbia climbers would like a higher profile role than towing Cav over the Alps? Wiggins needs some more climbers in the team as opposed to all rounders/time trialists like Millar or Zabriski in my opinion.

as i said with the likes of brailsford and yates based in manchester with the track team it makes sense!, to be fair though, boasson is good enough to run with wiggo and a lot of the team will be keen to prove thier value so i think that will be advantageous. i cant wait for next year, its almost worth planning a trip out to france for!.... vandevelde would be an awesome signing but two from slipstream!..... that would be taking the proverbial!....
