E46 electrical gremlin

Every time I turn on the heated rear screen it effects the radio reception - any ideas why?

If playing a CD it's fine, just makes the radio go all crackly...

Any pointers of where to start looking would be much appreciated!

We get this in ours only on MW though - would be interested to know if anyone knows why. I always presumed it was a loose conection

Radio antenna is built into the rear screen.

Might be affecting it..

Assuming the elements of the rear screen are all good then On saloons the areas to look at are the nearside of the screen behind the 'C' pillar trim. the connector to the screen may be burnt, also the Diversity amplifier may have failed.
On the Tourings your looking at diversity under the third brake light housing, it may well be swimming. Also on the tourer there is a supressor which is unlisted under the headling at the back.

Have had a few stereos also causing the fault
