A few weeks ago, I decided that there were a couple of cosmetic problems I really ought to get sorted out on the car. The front numberplate frame (now removed!) had been rubbing the lower part of the front radiator opening/spoiler bit and had left a couple of deep gouges in the paint which were really unsightly. One of my spiders was badly kerbed (not be me!) and needed doing as well.
The trouble is, who do you use for your P&J ? I'd heard that because mobile car detailers tend to be franchises, the quality of their repairs varies a lot depending on how good the guy you get is. I needed a recommendation...
Asking about, Stuart Wilkinson of Carsmetic (based in the West Mids) was recommended to me. Having now had the car done, I can see why. Not only are the repairs to the spoiler and wheel completely invisible, but he also sorted out a couple of stone chips on the front of the car and some marks on the windscreen uprights as well. But the best was yet to come..
A few years ago, I returned to where I parked the car to find the the front had been covered in a light dusting of what looked like black paint. Whilst is wasn't noticable in passing, if you looked at the paint closely you could see that there were thousands of tiny black dots, as well as a few bigger splodges. When I took it to a local TVR dealer, they had a go at getting them off. Whilst they got the worst of it off (at some considerable expense to yours truely), there was still quite a lot of the little dots left and they told me that I would need a respray if I wanted it sorted properly.
If you are like me, once you spot an imperfection on your car, you notice it every time you look at it. Needless to say, the spots had been bugging me ever since.
Anyway I pointed out the spots to Stuart and he said that he should be able to get them off, no problems. And sure enough, a few hours later he had - completely! Can only say the car looks like new again!
Big thanks to Stuart for his hard work. He spent over four hours on the car, which at well under £200 for the final bill seemed very good value.
