Question Time comes from the iconic town of Wootton Bassett. The panel includes General Sir Richard Dannatt, the former head of the British army; the Armed Forces Minister, Bill Rammell; the shadow Foreign Secretary, William Hague; and the broadcaster and former Mirror editor, Piers Morgan. David Dimbleby chairs.

There has been some disscussion about the location and the guests picked for tonights programme. Could be interesting.

I'm trying to imagine where they will film it. Nothing springs to mind in terms of a location.

It will probably be filmed in one of the schools in Bassett.

With Piers Morgan there I hope their version of an arms check will consist of giving the audience weapons as they enter the building.

They said the other day it's the high school.

The BBC has bowed to pressure from anti-war campaigners over the panellists on an edition of Question Time that will discuss the war in Afghanistan, and added another critic of the Government’s strategy to the programme.

The decision to include Lord Ashdown, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats, to tomorrow’s episode of the BBC One programme, means that the show will break with convention and have six panellists, instead of the usual five.

The decision to change the format of the show, which will be broadcast from Wootton Bassett, the Wiltshire town where the bodies of British soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are repatriated, comes after anti-war campaigners complained that the initial panel did not adequately represent the public mood.

The original five were Bill Rammell, the Armed Forces Minister; Sir Richard Dannatt, the former Chief of the General Staff, who is now a Tory defence adviser; William Hague, the Shadow Foreign Secretary; Piers Morgan, a fierce critic of the Iraq war when editor of the Daily Mirror, and Salma Yaqoob, leader of Respect and a Birmingham City councillor.

Why did they arrange it for this week? It's quite clearly set up to be an Iraq/Afghanistan debate (fair enough) but this week was always going to be about the PBR (not to mention new MP expenses scandals if the release was known far in advance).

I paused the TV just before it was about to start and am just about to press "play".
If the audience is as hand picked as last week and full of Airbag think-a-likeys, I will be pressing "pause" shortly before lobbing stuff at it.
Once upon a time I thought rather highly of the BBC. Not any more.
The last 2 weeks have clinched it. furious

Nice rant by the lady from RESPECT - Dimbleby would never let any other guest speak for so long uninterupted.

The old boy in the audience made the main point here - however long we're in, the country will revert to tribal violence and drugs as soon as we leave.

Respect lady incredibly patronising, but at least made a couple of good points. Morgan going for the popular 'easy answers' as ever. Hague isn't getting to say enough for my liking...

To be fair, of course soldiers deserve a better salary but then so do teachers, nurses, firefighters etc. It's all well and good the audience and panel suggesting we increase their pay but where does the money come from?
