...if i fitted a 215/40/17 tyre and used it as a spare?

My car uses 205/45/17 sized tyres.

Could be a stupid quesiton, and so i appologise in advance smile

Depends entirely on wheel sizes etc etc.

But as a spare, it would be perfectly fine.

Well my wheels are 17 inches, and the tyres recommended are 205/45/17...

It's not about the wheel diameter but the wheel width.

I think to be more ? correct it is the circumference that needs to be as close as possibe - use the link...........

but as above as a get you home spare would be ok - your diff just thinks you are always going around a corner.
