Brakes Upgrade for S3

I'm thinking about replacing the disks & calipers on my 85S3NA - one option is just to replace with standard S3 Lotus parts - however, before I do, I was wondering if anyone knows of whether there is an option to upgrade the brakes for more modern and more powerful alternatives (such as S4S brakes) - one limiting factor might be the rear in-board discs on the S3 (which on post 87 Peter Stevens shaped Esprit were changed to outboard).

Anybody any ideas, or has anyone upgraded their S3 brakes ?? - any suggestions / pointers gratefully received.
