Anyone on here know owt about JEEP transmission

If only everthing was as simple and reliable as a grif!!
We are running a Grand Cherokee auto td and can only get 2nd gear on drive.Reverse and low/high box is fine but on drive it will not budge out of 2nd gear. Any ideas/tips on what I should look at or is it a trip to the dealer?

Check oil level,if thats OK,its probably going to be expensive

Same happened to my Grand Cherokee after a flat battery. The gearbox has an electonic protection mode which limits speed to 30mph and second gear.
I took to local dealers in Southend, they reset it free of charge. Has been fine since then which was easter weekend.

Have you changed any of the tyres recently or are any at different air pressures, I had a similar auto change problem with a Jeep I once owned - the person who owned it before mixed different tyres - which affected the auto change from 4x4 to 2 wheel drive (until sorted) etc.

What he said. Happened to me a couple of months ago. They go into "limp home mode" and cannot be cleared by a normal OBD code reader. You have to get the gearbox ecu flashed by a dealer. Took them 5 mins !
