series 3 dodgy brakes
Discussion
Hello,
I have a series 3 and need help diagnosing the broblem, 1 minute the brakes are working fine then the next theres nothing and the pedal goes straight to the floor. i have tried bleeding the brakes but it hasnt made any difference,
And if i push the brake pedal down slowly it goes straight to the floor.
a quick press and the brakes jam on.
cheers,

Do a google search and look at some of the Series 2 + 3 forums. Bleeding the brakes can be a real pain and there are lots of views on the best way to do them, Gunsons Eezibleed, I think, is one of the favoured methods. Adjustment is also critical as well as the general state of the brake components.
Also be aware that the quality of some of the brake parts, shoes, cylinders etc, can be questionable which may give rise to the problem you are having.
Hope this helps

Make sure nothing is leaking (wheel cylinders or master cylinder), and that everything is the right way up (ie bleed nipples to the top, LH and RH cylinders not swapped over). Also make sure that each brake shoe is correctly adjusted so that pedal effort is not wasted in the shoes moving up to the drums needlessly. Other than that, good luck!!!
