P Reg LR Disco Issue

Afternoon,

I have a LR Disco P Reg 3.9V8 and this morning i started it and started to get a whining noise. The whining noise was made louder by turning the steering wheel. Now it has totally come out of the blue and seems to be constantly doing it now and its not a quite noise thats for sure.

What are peoples thoughts? I suspect steering pump/rack possibly?! Should i rule out front diff? There is no clunking noises just a whine like its under alot of pressure.

Any help would be great as its not the best of weather to be pokeing around!

more likely its the power steering pump.

checked oil level?

pump can pull air in from pulley seal...so moans like a cat caught in a fan belt!

If it does it when stationary then it's not the diff!
