Anyone in the SAS know a good place to find a replacement alloy? My mum has wrecked a wheel on her Citroen Pluriel, so I am trying to find a replacement.

TIA,
Fer

O'Dell in West Drayton is a big breaker yard. Heathrow Spares is around the corner to them.

Thames Valley Salvage were also a good bet but are no longer trading.

The proper scrappy experience is one which our children will sadly never know. Being four cars up on a stack at High Heavens in Wycombe, getting the bits yourself rather than paying the extra few quid for one already removed. Fond memories. smile

Yep, I often used to go West Drayton with my tool bag looking for parts - great way to spend a Sunday morning...

But they shouldn't be fantastically organised they should be ramshackle places with cars pilled up on each other which you need to scramble over to find the hidden gem! The place in West Drayton had an dejected Armstrong Siddeley in which I used to sit to have a cup off coffee from my thermos if it was raining!

You also need a properly mardy alsatian growling and foaming at the mouth, whilst tied by a frayed bit of rope to something that looks wholly unable to keep him at bay should he decide to eat you for lunch; for the FULL scrappy experience! biggrin

Have you looked on eBay? There's One here but don't know if it's the right type?

ahh fond memories of scrap yards, looking for the bonnet of rear quarter panel of the required vehicle whilst briskly strolling through the yard... only to give up on that technique and spend hours searching for a bloody peugeot 505 gti without a blown up gearbox.... grrrh

Ditto wink

There is a picture somewhere in the house, my Dad took it of me sitting by a scraped mini at the bottom of a pile of other cars, I was wearing shorts & t-shirt (it was summer btw) plus wellingtons with no care in the world if the stack was going to collapse or not & no hi-viz in sight.
This was during the 90's.

Hi-viz won't stop a ton of scrapped car crushing you, though.

Sadly, High Heavens is no more. frown

Didn't they all have a greasy-furred Alsatian dog with a bark like a sea-lion?

I do like A1, took a 306gti6 engine and Gbox out a while ago they asked for £350 I said £250, done deal and then went on and sold the engine for £600 gbox for £200 biggrin But I think they know what things are worth a bit more now unfortunately!

It's organised by make but still 4 cars up wink I dropped a rear beam out of a 309 gti that was 3 cars up a year or so ago, again for a profit. Though recently they have changed it a bit AFAIK rather than having cars stacked on cars they have some sort of metal framing to stack them, you can still climb up and take things off yourself I think?

You can but they run around in a fork lift truck and take the cars down for you!

Don't remember the dog, but I do remember the chap with long dark/grey hair with specs, I think he went by the name of 'Barry or 'Gary'
I also remember a chap who spoke very little English who used to stay within a meter of the caravan.
They had to cranes that were used to stack the motors & a Landie Defender pick up too. Those were the days. rolleyes

I can remember 25 years ago they used to sell reclaimed junk from inside a rusty freight container wagon, I bought a phone for my garage in there, still got it, and it works smile
