Anyone aware of what the situation is with the Purple Sage in Livingston?

There is badly-scrawled note on the door reading "Closed for refurbishment" but it's been closed for several weeks now, and when I peeked through a tiny gap in the curtains it looked exactly the same inside.

Also, their number is now "not in use" according to the BT recorded-voice.

Gone bust? Wouldn't have thought so, always seemed busy enough.

Originally a chinese resturant and take-away, but the restaurant bit has been closed for a couple of years now. Good takeaway though.

It's right next to Livingston South railway station.

I heard it was swapping with the Indian takeaway in Eliburn. The chip shop they have added on to the Purple Sage is the same folk that have the one beside the Indian in Eliburn.
If it's true then I think it's a good idea since two Chinese restaurants right next to each other is a bit pointless.
I'm just going by what I've been told so it could all be nonsense. Makes sense though.

Mmm - does indeed make sense. Just need to wait and see I suppose.

I've tried lots of chinese takeaway places (probably TOO many!) in my 30-odd years as a WL resident and just when you find one that consistently does good food it closes!
