Forgive my ignorance but can you - clean an air filter that is not very dirty; is it worth changing the cabin filters as they are so expensive - whats the best oil for a A8 4.2 Quattro Sport and what are the best tyres. Cheers Paul.

Also my Air Bag warning light is on and occasionally when you brake hard the ABS warning light comes on????

D2 version?

The airbag could be a faulty sensor in the passenger seat. Mine does that from time to time. I ignore it.

If you're breaking hard and the ABS light comes on, maybe it's because the ABS is activating? Ok, facetious answer. I get the abs light coming on sometimes. I've been told it's a dirty sensor (usually on the o/side wheel) and/or low voltage from a dying battery. God knows. I sometimes get the ABS engaging at very low speeds under light braking. Again, I ignore it. The brakes have never come close to letting me down when I've needed them.

Tyres: Michelin Pilot Sports, but mine's too old for that sort of driving now. I use Dunlop SP9000s. Best oil - I use whatever grade the handbook recommends. IIRC Castrol's website will allow you to input you car and it will spit out an oil type. The rest: dunno.

keep the tyres the same make on each axle,
take the cabin filters out and give them a gentle bash on the wall
to get shut of some of the crap, worked for me,
its worth it to get a k.n filter [air] if you are guna keep the car for
a couple of years, wash in parrifin at the service int, makes a bit of a
difference on mpg to,,

Is the 'bit of difference with mpg' re a KN filter better or worse. i.e. will fitting a KN filter make it more or less economical? Thanks everyone for your responses.
