Compact camera help
Discussion
Hi all, I did a quick search thinking that this forum would be littered with threads by fools like myself asking 'which camera' but could only find a couple relating to compact cameras, and they are a good few months old now so would imagine there are some new products out by now.
My old Casio exilim crossed to the other side when I fell in a river in France with it in my pocket a couple of years back. I've not got round to replacing it yet, and really should do as I had a daughter 10 months ago and am relying on everyone else to capture decent shots, while I'm taking crappy shots with my phone (and an iphone at that, so extra crap!) OK, I'll stop waffling and get to the point....
I'm after a decent compact camera, up to £300 (could stretch to slightly more if it's for a good reason!). Ideally I'd like it to fit in my pocket for nights out and so on. I guess it goes without saying that the wider the wide angle, and the closer the optical zoom the better. Some form of half decent video capture would be a bonus. I'm a sucker for features too.
Lots of friends seem to recommend the Canons. I really like the look of the Panasonic LX-3, but it's maybe a bit bulky to stick in my pocket?
Any suggestions?

Unless you have massive pockets you can't beat an ixus.
Currently trying to talk myself out of buying one of these though...

Need to get into a shop and have a play and see if it is pocketable.
Without security locking me up.

I like the look of that TZ6 very much. Amazing optical zoom and wide angle for a compact. Not too bad on price either. Anyone here got any real world experience of owning one?Unless you have massive pockets you can't beat an ixus.

ETA: Actually, the TZ7 looks better! It could be the one!
