Managed to pick up some more bits for the V8 Conversion, 2 brand new V8 arms, going under the tree thanks to SWMBO.Oh got the seats too but I think they're too big XK8 not XJS but will try em as they are really comfy and were cheap as I got the whole interior with them.

I thought that the V8 engine wouldn't fit into the V6 chassis???
Is that right or does it drop in okay? Would be nice to upgrade to a V8 some time.

Do you fancy posting up a 'how I did it' thread some time?

to be honest it isnt in yet but I dont doubt it will go in (I beleive others have done it), I have been advised probably quite rightly that it is cheaper and easier to just buy a V8s than to convert, but seeing as I already had the engine and box out of another car and that I picked up a neglected S for next to nothing I thought sod it why no have a go. I am documenting all the work I do but as it is going to takle me a couple of years I intend to list it on a thread when there is some depth to it otherwise I think it would get bitty and less interesting to read.
Out of interest the car will be totally non standard (at the risk of upsetting the purists) but it will end up being exactly what I want, a simple V8 powered british sports car with character, painted Yellow , cos I like Yellow . It will run on carbs and will probably have a modified rear end very,very similar to that of the 3000s Shown on the thread relating to the Model posted yesterday and it will have a V8S bonnet. If nothing else it keeps another S on the road that would otherwise have been scrapped.

Hi Paul
I picked them up from a chap in Bucks who had bought 2 pairs a few years ago, he has kept the other set for his own car which I beleive he said will be a 5.1/5.2L, He very kindly let me have them at the price he paid originally ie £95ea which is obviously a great price.
Ps your car is looking like the dogs danglies now, good to see you are happy with all the work thats been done, looks like a top class job.

Thers's an "engine less" S series in the classifieds at the mo ( £2000 ish) Believe the chassis has been modified to accept a V8

Its a fairly sparse advert. I don't see anything about being V8 ready??

Besides if I brought another one then I'd be sleeping in the shed. Hell hath no fury like a woman for a man who buys a second toy.
