Or just a ?

You know the type of thing- Santa and ruldolph with an LED flashing nose.
The tie which plays jingle bells when you squeeze it.

Socks that do the same- in my jaded eyes worse- the wearer has to draw attention to himself as they are normally hidden.

What's the general concensus of opinion?

Wacky and humourous, to be worn by the cream of the funniest people?

A sad and faintly embarrassing attempt to draw attention to yourself?
(colin from the fast show)

Only reason for asking- bloke I know in the village was off to a party last night, everyone dressed in a smart suit/tie, partners in a cocktail dress.

Him in a musical illuminated tie, and socks on which ruldolph illuminated.

Which is it- dashing blade, or contemptuous pillock?

My money is on the latter

Don't do it, you look like you are taking your styling cues from Swerni.

My MIL buys a stupid pair for my O/H every Chrismas, he never wears them just shoves them in a cupboard. Only a few weeks ago, I woke up at 3am hearing a pair going off wishing me a merry effing christmas!! Had to stumble around in the dark to locate the feckers. They will be going straight in the bin this year rage

I bet someone has a pair on tonight, my bet is on Charlie smile

Never a good choice, people who think someone is a bit of a character for doing it will be a spactard of the highest order, the person who chooses to dress like that is clearly a spactard. "Spactard 22" whichever way you look at it!

Contemptuous pillock. A desperate attempt by dull personality vacuums to prove that they have a bit of a "crazy" side.

"You've got to watch out for me - I'm a bit wacky!"

I got bought a pair of little britain socks a while ago with 'I'm the only gay in the village' written on them. The 'I'm' and the 'gay' were in large writing, with the format being as such;
I'm
the only
GAY
in the village

I can't change the size of the text here, but you get the idea. I ran out of normal socks so wore them one day. Anyway I had to do a quote for some building work, measured up, went into the customers house, took my boots off and talked through the quote. As I was leaving I was putting my boots on and the oldish woman was looking down as I did so, at my foot area naturally as I was kneeling to mess with my boots. The words 'I'm' and 'Gay' were on display in large bright letters, with the rest of the words being obscured by the folds in the sock. She looked at them, then looked at me disapprovingly. It may not have been related, but I didn't get the job.

Wearing them just advertises that you have no sense of humour.
