Earlier the Eon people were down the road doing something which resulted in us having no power for 4 hours ( they had pre warned us a week or so before hand)

Now in that time i washed the car but came in and realised that theres no tv, no internet, no xbox, nothing.

Now in that time i managed to find time to read evo but christ i was struggling for things to do!

So answers here , in that 4 hours with nothing what would you have done?

Played the drums, gone for a run, read a book.

Maybe just maybe forced myself to do some coursework.

few weeks ago when we had some bad storms we had no less that three power cuts. From 3 hours to 9 hours. Most were spent checking on elderly neighbours, playing torches with the kids and my favorite was ordering a chinese takeaway and playing trival persuit by candlelight. I quite enjoyed them!

In our era of everything relying on technology its nice to have some time where like that.

My housemates spend pretty much all their time on the internet, playing role playing games and watching tv shows all day.

Then one day the internet went down for a whole day, it was awesome, never spent so much time with them, most of it was just talking to each other but it was still fun!

The thing that worries me is all the bored little scrotes who will be forced to go outside and 'entertain' themselves in the event of Big power cuts. And can you imagine being the one guy on the street that has made contingency plans. Think how those neighbours will start looking at that generator in your garage after a few days of hearing it over there own chattering teeth hehe

4 hours?

That's nothing!

Yesterday, our power was out for 11 hours! Our meter decided to blow up and catch fire and it took an age for an engineer to turn up as apparently it was happening all over the place.

It was doubly fun, as yesterday it was farrrking cold and dark and I couldn't go out as I had to wait for the bloke to turn up and fix it!

No heat, no tv, internet, computer, anything. It's amazing how reliant you're on electricity.

Your meter blew up and caught fire! I just wouldn't expect that at all!

How did you put out the fire?

Get a generator on to keep the tanks happy.... Then every 20 mins or so go and agitate the water to ensure O2 is supplied to the fish... It's fun when it's a nightime powercut!

Did they replace the meter? If so did they replace it with one of these new fangled 'Smart meters' or a normal one?
