This competition is due to finish either Monday 21st of possibly the 28th. With Christmas in the way I would have thought the 28th will be better? Over to you lot.

Either way while it is tempting to pick Turkey and cranberries the two ingredients will be suitably seasonal and will be:

game and nuts

Nice and open. Should give lots of scope.

Excellent choice! I'll be back for this one. thumbup

Not sure that particular extra week will help most, mind, given the inevitable commitments.

can we make this a long comp. and post results on the 5th? only 3 entries on the last one and i very much doubt that'd improve given xmas/nye.

Good idea. yes

Longer is better for this time of year.

Anyone claiming Turkey is game will be virtually flogged.

steady dibbers you've got to actually speak to that girl first before cooking her dinner rofl .. although if you need some practise hehe

the two ingredients this time round are game & nuts which you have to incorporate into a dish & then post up a pic of your dish & brief explanation of it & we then hope for the PH massive to vote on which looks/sounds tastiest. the winner gets to pick the ingredients for the next round

Sure am glad for the extra time; I finally made this last night!

Pheasant with a bread, apple, and bacon sauce, roast potatoes and chestnuts, vegetables.

Recipe was from here and I'd never done it before.

Overall, a 5 to 6: breast and the bread sauce was lovely; the leg meat wasn't tender enough; I'd have preferred the bacon to have gone more crispy. And the temperature didn't really suit the roast potatoes, either.

Busy yesterday for posting but made this new years eve.

Roast Pheasant with Venison, Prune and Chestnut stuffing. On matchstick chips with red cabbage and mongy tout.

Roasted the Fezza as recommended by Hugh FW then made the stuffing by soaking prunes in port overnight. Combined with part boiled chestnuts and the filling from a couple of Venison sausages an onion and garlic.

Oh I have been slacking so much frown I still haven't got my entry in for the sugar and cream competition. I'm doing a creme brulee .. at some point. I think I'll do a full meal this weekend with that as pudding and game and nuts for main course.

Was supposed to be entries in on the 5th - but it is hardly a competition with two pheasant and chestnut variations.

I'd say we leave it open until next Monday.

During the period of this competition I couldn't find much game at my local supermarkets so didn't enter. Went to Sainsbury's on Tuesday and they had reduced price pheasants, breasts etc so bought some. Noticed also they had a huge amount of venison, sell by date 15th, so I will be going back there today to see if that is reduced too.

Better late than never, a risotto. Pheasant breasts with pine nuts and wild mushrooms, home grown onions, garlic and white wine. I've chucked in an oversteering porsche as well to try and sway the judges.

I'm on my second bowl as we speak.
