Looking to by an E39,could do with some hints and tips on what to look out for. apart from obvios service history, milage and all the gadgets working correctly is there likely to be any other hidden problems that I should lookout for that should have been rectified somewhere in the cars history

If you know nothing on these cars I would respectfully suggest you spend several hours here.

The good thing about the E39 is that most common issues are DIY'able. Im no pit mechanic but I would give most things a go.
