Advertised as being Britain's Leading Bed Specialists http://www.dreams.co.uk I hadn't really heard of them, but then again I can't remember what we did when shopping for a bed about 10 years ago.

Was in one of their large stores today and after trying out a lot of different mattresses and eyeing up lots of diffferent bedsteads we found a bed / mattress combination we like and can't really find a similar mattress any cheaper online nor find a comparable bedstead any cheaper. It is a super kingsized leather bedstead and quaility slumberland mattress and will cost circa £2k.

Anyhow.. anybody had any bad experience with Dreams? Not sure if I am being a bit unfair on them since their store is right next in the middle of a DFS Sofa shop on one side and an ScS Sofa shop on the other and whilst I have nothing against either shops I don't know if I would buy anything there that I might hope would last 8-10 years.

Go to Ikea instead, buy the best they have and save yourself a packet.

They are about the only national chain of bed shops where you can go in and try all their beds out AFAIK.

I got my bed from there but it was pretty basic - good enough

I went in their and tried out a bed the other day and it was amazing but very expensive.

You could prob get the same stuff cheaper elsewhere but there is the convenience factor, esp as you prob wont be able to try out the bed from most other places unless they have a massive showroom

TBH, that was my intention. I tried out almost everything I was interested in, picked the brains of the (really helpful) sales guy, and came away with product names and prices of the items I was keen on with the plan of sitting here on the laptop and buying online and saving money (and feeling a bit guilty I guess but... ) However I can't really find the specific items I am looking for much cheaper, which surprises me, hence wondering of there is any great reason for avoiding buying instore.

Bought 4 beds for the Cornish house there and one for London. All delivered on time, no problems. Also bought new mattress for London and, again, no problems. They seem to know their stuff, have a decent range and aren't silly prices like Selfridges or even John Lewis.

Wish I'd gone there instead of Sleepmasters frown
