A mate of mine is to say the least very anti gay.

It turns out after talking to him today that his nephew is Gay!!

To cut a long story short he is in complete denial about it, and it would appear the lads parents are as well.

I don't have kids myself but can see why it may be an issue for some people.

I was wondering what other peoples thoughts are on the subject?

I personally would find it quite difficult, my wife on the other hand would be fine!!?!!

confused

I'd be perfectly fine about it. I'd be pissed off if I had a son who took to wearing a scarf and t-shirt in the pub though.

I'd be fine with it. Bit disappointed about not having grandchildren, but hey-ho.

I saw one of those last night, maybe it was an ironic statement about something.
All he needed was a trilby hat, and refusing to put his iphone into his pocket to make the perfect wker

Oh this is going to be interesting....

FWIW, my parents were both very upset when I "came out", but you learn that there's nothing different about your child than there was beforehand, you just know something they were hiding from you.

Before any more people lay into him, it may well have been a tongue in cheek remark poking fun at all the proud parents who bring up that tired old phrase whenever any threads regarding children are made.

dont have kids myself but im confident i would be okay with it.

my thinking being.

i have a guinea pig
she likes carrots (read as boys) and broccoli (read as girls)
carrots are cheaper so i prefer her having carrots.
but she prefers broccoli and i am happy for her to nibble away!

happy to help!!!

Back to the OP's question, my son is now 14 months and I've had this discussion with the missus; if he (our son) came home one day and said he was gay, we would be a bit disappointed, but it wouldn't change how we feel about him in any way.

But: if he came home and said he was a Spurs fan... nono

It wouldnt change my opinion of them.

Camp on the other hand, this would annoy me greatly.

'Don't do anything uncle Ric does' is all he needs to know right now.
