Caught a bit of this.. would love to know exactly what Frankie Boyle said to cause an impromptu ad break... he had previously said something about helping abused teenage girls by letting them escape from his house....

He left because of the way comedy on TV has to be so PC these days. Frankie told a joke about gold medallist Rebecca Adlington looking like someone looking at themselves in the back of a spoon. She formally complained to the BBC along with 75 other people who had never seen the show but read about it inthe newspapers the following day.

Some rag said:
The comments sparked 75 complaints, but although the BBC Trust criticised 37-year-old Boyle and agreed that his remarks were unfair and offensive it took no further action such as barring him from its programmes for a period. Miss Adlington, who came third in the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year contest in December, has now written to the corporation, calling its rebuke no more than 'a slap on the wrist' for comments which fell 'well below the standards of common decency'. She questioned the effectiveness of the Trust's disciplinary process and called for the corporation to take 'greater responsibility' for its stars.

An unrepentant Boyle, who has since quit Mock The Week, has refused to even apologise. He ridiculed the BBC Trust rulings as worthless and went on to compare Adlington to a beagle.
Beagle hehe

He said that Pamela Anderson and Dame Vivienne Westwood were like before and after - before and after HIV.

Do you never get tired of him? His only line of comedy is to take the pee and insult people. Shock humour, very droll.

But his weekly Kerry Katona dig was an eagerly awaited event.

What annoys me is that Frankie pretended Haye wasn't there. He wanted all the attention and didn't let Haye get a word it. tt.

Seems the censors managed to mute out the HIV bit.

Right, thought I just didn't get it. And yeh, the boxer looked a lil surprised when Frankie hogged it all.
But really, why is there two people to hand out an award? There is barely time for one to chat, especially when hogg Ross steals so much time. He cut up Carr to his amusement.
This year, mostly st compared to previous years. Too many pointless presenters, too much Ross, too much bks.

I saw the photo (mind bleach needed) one old hag standing next to another that Buffy the vampire slayer would run away from.

Seems Michael McIntyre isn't popular with some of his peers.

Frankie Boyle pointedly didn't applaud him, but sat vacantly whistling. Armando Ianucci made a negative comment - naming him directly (MM looked taken aback).
Ross picked up on it, commenting that jealousy was evident in the room.
Or was it all good-natured rivalry?

FB's 'back of a spoon' joke is re-cycled, I first heard it said twenty-odd years ago about Ian Botham.

I noticed that McIntyre was looking a little miffed later in the show.

Maybe they don't like the fact that he has played the game (so to speak) and capitalised on his popularity?

Personally he has made me laugh far more than Frankie Boyle.

I thought Graham Linehan's speech was excellent and found it pretty touching when everyone got up to applaud him!

Boyle and McIntyre are two very different kinds of comedian, both equally as funny. Although I was a bit disapointed at some of the digs/snubs directed at McIntyre - it just came across as jealousy because he's very much the comedy wonderboy at the moment, rightly so, he's highly amusing.
