Does anyone else browse through the "last 7 days interestingness" on flickr a lot?

There seems to be an increasing number of worryingly young looking teenage girls taking fairly arty (read rubbish) sort-of-revealing self portraits appearing, with loads of comments by male "photographers" telling them how great they look.

It wouldn't bother me if they were good photos, but they're just not. Don't even get me started on the weird Japanese <33333333333333 stuff you find.

I'm sure flickr explore used to deliver decent photos.

Seems OK to me.

Any down time I get during the day I spend looking through it for ideas. 15 seconds of browsing the best of flickr...

Refreshed a few times but didn't see anything that I wouldn't expect.

Edited to actually reply to jon-

I actually really like the first of those, I can see what you mean about the others though.

I think the reason you'll see a lot of teen girls is the tags that they use for the images.

Explore is pretty naff, most are just average photos with some kind of retro film photoshop action applied. Seems to be a fashion among flickr users at the mo, even I gave it a bash..

I had one on the front of the explore page recently, over 2000+ views in the space of 24hrs, 119 favs and 37 comments; it's not even that great..

I can't figure out why its had so many hits, the tags are resonable and it's not in any of those daft groups?

Because it's a damn good photo?

I had to remove some comments from some of my photos on flickr yesterday from someone called Bighardcock who expressed in no uncertain terms what he'd like to do to the yound lady in the shot

Dean, compositionally I would say the car is rightly placed. Ok, so its a great looking car which adds some interest to the shot. If it was a Fiat Panda, I'm not sure it would have quite the same effect but its also good PP'ing.

Care to elaborate on what you did to the shot to create the image? (How about the original to compare it to?)

Good work, keep it up.

Nice work Dean, its because you have so many followers

I did a test and tagged a general boring photo... like most of mine, with a few certain tags, and the view response was quite amazing. A lot of sad strange little men out there! Also annoyed when searching for Tits and they find blue ones :P

I agree, there are a lot of under 18 females taking photos of themselves and displaying them to the world with dodgey men hanging round, hopefully they aren't giving out personal details etc. I think the disturbing bit is the young photographers with, self harm or depression themed photos.
