The Griff's my daily motor so was out today when the heavens opened and a Winter Wonderland appeared. The six-mile journey home was an unforgettable experience...

Had several heart-stopping moments and a few near crashes - there are some very steep hills and it takes some nerve to get up them over snow and sheet ice. Was impressed with the way the car straightened up perfectly when I lifted off the throttle...

Got back home and got the whisky out to stop the shakes!

Maybe should have had a couple of whiskies before the drive just to settle your nerves...

Gooo on son! Get some knobblies on and a bag o' spuds in the back and av it laaaaarge!

seriously, did you try letting the rear tyres right down? had to do it in an XJ6 many years ago and was quite impressed that I got all the way home... having said that, secret is to get up early or leave work late to miss all the other traffic that gets in the way.

If you have to take it out today... good luck

I drove the Griff a last year in heavy snow in North Wales, and it was a very scary experience. The brakes were usless and the car prefered sidways to forward motion, but still I made it in one piece by taking my time and ignoring the prat in the 4x4 that was behind me.

If you have to drive in the snow, just be carfull, those loverly wide tyres grip well in the dry, but have the opposite effect on snow.

Mind you, if you can find an empty carpark, you could have great fun.

Let me guess, Does it have a green full hide interior, perfect chassis, have a smooth tickover and sound absolutly perfect? If so well done. Had a test drive of that one. Very nice.

Dusty - good guess & thanks. Good to hear someone else thought it was a good one, as I am a complete TVR virgin and will probably be posting lots of dumb questions here in the near future !

SSSSShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Dusty is a secret agent tasked with scouring the country for every possible Griff for sale and completing a dossier on the general "sexing up" of teh phenomena we know all too frequently as the "They All Do That, Sir!" syndrome............

He's destined to succeed where agents DustyA and DustyB came adrift!

Thanks for the welcome everyone - will definitely be joining the tvr car club, as I suspect will be needing access to all the silly questions resources I can get. And if dusty is a secret agent, then so much the better for all us nervous first time buyers !

As for the weather - had to turn back early from drinking after work to get home by train tonight, so Friday pickup is starting to look in danger... bah !

Actually silly questions are dealt with promptly by us PHers - nowt to do with the TVRCC - though some belong to both of course. And PH is free

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

DONT TELL THEM!
Where DustyA & B failed I will succeed in my mission!
I was kind of hoping it was going to be a bit more like a James Bond style mision but yet to meet Pussy Galore. (In fact "Goodnight" with "Alotta Virgina" was always my fav ).

AND...
I joined the TVRCC last week and dont even have a TVR
D'oh!
I guess the sticker will look a bit silly on the Golf!

Im still certain I will be in one in time for the good weather. (ie want to get a "winter priced" car. I have already proven that myth true since my searches began last spring!).

razzle: rest assured that your griff is in bloody good condition. The chassis looks like its brand spanking new and it idles so so smoothly. Great noise with the de-baffled exhaust too.
I meet the previous owner to it recently. He now has a Dark Blue Tuscan. Im sorry, but I forget his name.

Mate, you cant ask silly questions than me. You are definitly safe on that one.

Do a search on "terpentine" engine in the griff forum and you will see what I mean!

Fortunately I have no pride to protect!
