Scumbag Agents/Purchasors - Am I being Unreasonable?
Discussion
We have supposed to have exchange about 5 times in the last week, only to be told lie afte lie as to why it has not occurred.
After Friday came and went, it was 110% supposed to be today, but apparently whoever needed to sign the contract was not in and subsequebtly no exchange today.
Be tomorrow now.
The agent has had all sorts of pressure but to no avail.
Last stab in the morning is to table them with deducting .2% of their fee from agreed 1.7% - per day, reducing by a further .2% each subsequent day we have not exchanged. That equates to approx £400 per day reduction from £3950.
If it is unnaceptable to them they can have 1.7% of sod all - as we will not be selling.
This has come about due to me reaching the end of my tether - they have been called useless W*****S to their faces after going through a complete and utter farce for the last 6 weeks.
We have even reached the stage whereby the property we are hoping to buy have refused to extend the exchange deadline, which had already been granted an initial extension, which was supposed to be last Monday.
The agent we are purchasing through claims they will accept an immediate exchange, but the longer this drags on the more I have my doubts they will.
These seling agents we are having to deal with really are from the cesspit of humanity, completely incompetent arrogant 4rseholes - indeed the manager who I am dealing with has already been mentioned as a slimey b4stard by our vending agent.
Me , I snapped today, and have no wish to deal with them further - and told them so in no uncertain terms - The wife is having to deal with them now.
They have tainted they purchase of said potential new house - so much so I would rather stay put.
I am perversely hoping everything will fall through so I can remove the slae board the cheeky gits have erected and return it by hand to their office at a time of my choice when the office is full of customers.
Rant Over- Christmas ruined.

Bit confused by your rant really. But I am pretty sure that you are ranting about the wrong people.
Agent does not have a say in Exchange/Completion - they are merely the gofer. It's the solicitors who can and do cock these bits up.
Chipping the agents fee for this seem harsh and is not really going to happen.

I certainly wouldnt be speaking with the agent, it isnt their proble or fault , , I would be talking to the solicitors , maybe that is why there is a problem .
My guess for the OP is that somebody has a problem and is trying to buy time to get it sorted .
Agent is only the messenger (however good/bad they are)
your issue is with the other party (the buyers) you need to speak to your solicitor and get them to give the buyers solicitor an ultimatum - sign/exchange by certain date or its over.
I moved recently (chain of 5) and managed to speak to 4 out of the 5 directly in order to get them all to give their solicitors a kick/speed things up...very stressful, but just speak to the solicitor (unless estate agent will let you speak to the buyer direct then you can ask directly what the hell is going on)
good luck with the move
