Deputy mayor sues Chief Constable Jan 27 2004

A POLICE chief is being sued by a deputy mayor over claims of poor policing.
North Wales Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom received the writ from local councillor Jeff Evans at a meeting last night.
Mr Evans, deputy mayor of Holyhead, is suing Mr Brunstrom for £200 - the cost of his council tax policing precept over the past two years.
He said, "I am issuing the writ because I believe the chief is providing services of a sub-standard nature, the services are below that I believe I should be paying for. If you employ an electrician to fit lights in your home and they don't work then you would not pay him so why should I pay the police?"
Mr Brunstrom has taken a hard line with speeding motorists, comparing retired bank manager William Shaw, 71, to a "17-year-old yob" for complaining about being fined.
Mr Evans added, "I believe he is more concerned with catching speeding motorists than other police matters. It is not equitable policing."
A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said, "This is a complete mystery to us, we know nothing about any writ."
Crime in Holyhead is down 3%, and an extra community beat officer is employed.

Good for the mayor.
I wonder what Brunstrom's report looks like at the end of each year. (i.e the one his seniors write up commenting on his target achievement.)
I wonder what his various targets are, how they are measured by his seniors and how his ability to do damage to image of the Police Force is written up in his report.
Do his seniors accept any responsibility for managing him or is he a loose cannon out of control?

Streaky

What do they make of it?
Well Blunkett has played his card, Blair can't be arsed with so trivial and yet trecherous an area of policy as speed cameras (not so fox-hunting ..
) and the Queen reckons if there'd been speed cameras in that tunnel in France, she'd still have that gruesome ex-daughter-in-law buggering up her life.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
