Any vodafone customers got 5 minutes?
Discussion
I am helping someone with data collection for his PhD which is looking at emotional attachment to brand image. He is looking at how emotional attachment to a brand drives spend and customer tenure, and has an unsual online test of that which I developed for him for his PhD.
It takes about 5 minutes and at the end it asks a few questions about how you feel about your mobile provider.
Non Vodafone customers welcome as he is always happy to get extra data but it is specifically Vodafone customers he is short of.

No reason to leave an email, just make it up.
You don't have to have an opinion you just have to sort the words and logos as instructed. The Good words go one way, the Bad the other. The Vodafone logos one way, the non-vodafone the other. Notice that part way through the 5 tasks, that sorting rules change.
It is a test of your unconscious brand image, it doesn't want you to think and give an opinion, just to sort the words and logos according to the rules it gives and it will do the rest.

Bizarre and don't get the meaning of most of it.
I can tell you what brand loyalty I have - I spend typically over £300 a month with them. I have less than 2 months left before I can upgrade or move away. Give me a good deal or I will take my money elsewhere. Simple. Loyalty is great but I have had nothing back from VF and I am able to place my business anywhere. Make me feel loved and I might show some loyalty.
Oh, and offering to shave £5 of my bill is all nice and helpful, but it doesn't mean much does it? How about some decent offers, free upgrades and the like? You know, like everyone else does? Orange with tickets to cinemas and O2 with concerts etc.... What do I get from VF? Naff all. Brand loyalty? Show me some back and I might be interested.
Safe, trusted, loyal? Phah.... marketing rubbish. Cold hard cash...

I must be particularly stupid, because I couldn't make head nor tail of it.
FWIW, I've been with VF for a dozen years, and I'm leaving them this month, because their Blackberry email solution has become extremely temperamental, and they couldn't give a tinker's cuss about customer service.

I think its very clever.FWIW, I've been with VF for a dozen years, and I'm leaving them this month, because their Blackberry email solution has become extremely temperamental, and they couldn't give a tinker's cuss about customer service.
When you do the first two, you send the 'nice' words along with the Vodafone logos..
The second two, you send the nice words and non-Vodafone logos to the same place, and I noticed I got more wrong when it was this way around compared to when it was Vodafone and Nice words together.
I think this was the 'point' in it?

sorry i tried but fail to see the point in this "survey"
Basically you've removed all opinion from the individual
Vodafone = Good
Everything Else = Bad
Then halfway through it switches. It is the speed with which you can make the right decision being used to measure your brand attachment.Basically you've removed all opinion from the individual
Vodafone = Good
Everything Else = Bad

I hope you're feeding all this constructive criticism back to your friend.
Lol; At the last count this test could predict spend and tenure 5 times better than the best measures he could find through traditional market resaerch tools (and he works for an international marketing company)! I suspect that he will take the feedback on board, as he struggles to the bank with his bonus cheque.
