318 M Sport touring
Discussion
2009 318M Sport Touring! Despite preferring a diesel, I've seen one of these at a fairly decent price. It's quite a distance away so haven't had a chance to test drive it. I don't need a rocket ship, but don't want something that can't pull the skin off a rice pudding either.
So..thoughts and opinions!!

My main concern would be it's resale value. If it's a seriously good deal, then this is less of an issue, but if you can get a similar discount on a diesel - particularly as you've said that you'd prefer one - then that's probably the way to go. So..thoughts and opinions!!
I currently have a 2009 318i MSport Touring. It replaced a 2008 pre facelift 320d SE.
The 320d clearly has more power and torque, but I've come to the conclusion that I prefer petrol engines, even if they have less performance. The response from the 318i is somehow better, more "electric".
I don't honestly get to drive that often, but around town or normal M-Way speeds, the 318i is more than adequate, but you do notice the lack of power, for example, at higher speeds with a couple of passengers, luggage and MTBs on the roof.
You can at least, use full throttle more often than with the higher power engines.
I am actually considering buying this car, but if possible, I would aim for a more powerfull petrol engine. The M-Sport package is very worthwhile IMHO, and I would be reasonably happy buying a 2009 318i M-Sport Touring.
