Hey matt, im afraid you're going to need a few jobs to pay it!! I'm 18, and the lowest price I have found for a 2.3 Diesel geep is just over £800!!! (that's in my name, third party fire and theft) I think that was from Graham Sykes (kitcars@graham-sykes.co.uk
Telephone - 0870 444 6319)a lot of companies who do kit cars have stopped insuring 17-18 year olds mainly due to our baseballcap-wearing friends and tendancy to bend things. All the best with your test, I was in exactly the same position last year and know how you feel!

nup dont think so. being a kit car, its the engine in it that they're mainly concerned with. the quote for the 2.3 diesel im putting in is only about £100 more than im paying for my 1L '88 fiesta, as they base the quote on the sierra that it came out of...not the raciest of beasts!! (thats through the Co-op, they dont do kit cars but are the absolute biz for everything else) I can recommend the pass-plus scheme, only a few more driving "lessons" and you'll have a 3rd off your insurance from participating companies. I don't think the £800 included that, as it was a rough guide, depends who they can get the best deals off and whether they accept pass-plus. hope this has helped.
