Zetec rebuild...

Hi,

I am about to start stripping a 1800 Zetec out of a 1997 escort/focus, can’t remember which.

There is nothing wrong with it as far as I know, I am using it for a kitcar and the engine has been stood idle for nearly 12 months so I’m just going to give it a good clean, replace the head gasket and oil it up.

Is there anything I should be looking out for or any difficulties with these engines?

Any advice welcomed.

I would not even bother doing the head gasket unless there is a known fault with it. These engines are tough so i would give it a service change the cambelt and fit it. Ps Probably worth fitting a rear main while its out just in case.
