I am one of us that suffers with a hard to turn heater control valve, is there anything that is accessible from under the car as I have the floor removed at present that needs replaceing, ie control valve

The control valve. In the tunnel, towards the front. Have fun...

An interesting project would be to install a VAG Golf/Audi motorised one instead, with the display

Follow the heater hoses from rear to front, and around footwell area you'll find the heater valve.

Not a Ford part. AFAIK, not yet identified by anyone.

Before you replace the heater valve, check the control cable to make sure that it's not binding, or pushing on the lever on the valve at an angle.
