Hopefully by BBWF my car should be running nicely on Megasquirt 2 from www.extraefi.co.uk.

MS2 with 4 spark outputs driving a brace of coilpacks directly, closed loop fuelling courtesy of a Techedge wideband system, and closed loop idle control courtesy of a bosch PWM valve, most of which is in the postman's sack at the moment (oo err).

Gonna use the 4 channel datalogging ability of the techedge to characterise the current calibration and transfer it to the squirtybox, then fire up on MS2 and use the Lambda to tune the base map. The only slight guesswork will be generating the target AFR map, but I already have some steers on that.

Finally, I get to dump that POS air flow meter, AND have some proper fuelling. Going to leave the overrun valve in and try and retain the "flap crackle & pop" with some slightly rich fuelling in the overrun bins... Although the sensors dont like raw fuel I belive...

Good times.

Let us know how you get on, i have been pondering doing the same thing for a while. I've only purchase the techedge lambda setup so far to sort my fuelling out but it would be interesting to see what kind of power gains you get across the range.

Did mine three years ago, but had some problems.

Started with fuel only and let the dizzy run the sparks.

Next winter converted to direct driven coil packs, but had major issues which turned out to be mechanical and not electronic. By the time that was diagnosed it was running EDIS 8 to fire the coils.

Running good now though.

Bought mine from Phil as well. Top block when you can get a hold of him.

Where did you put your coil packs? Mine sit behind the engine, on a bracket bolted to the top of the Bell housing. Probably got pics somewhere if you want to see.

Here's my coil pack mounting bracket

2mm SS bolted on with top two studs on bell housing.

Bracket with coil packs on. Re-arranged the plug leads since this was taken to tidy up the lay out

Dare I ask cost involved , presume you DIY it , what are the benefits over a standard dizzy , I had a new chip fitted in the ecu plus modern afm which works well and so far no issues .

Cheers Deetes that's great.

I think the Vauxhall packs I have are a bit smaller then the ford ones so that confirms it will all fit where I intended.

Where did the HT leads come from ?

P.S. What's the flying saucer in the heater pipe for - Oh hang on can I spot some now unused AC connections.

HT leads came from these guys: http://www.performanceleads.co.uk/

The flying saucer is as you deducted. The compressor and hoses areall in a box in my garage. Should chuck em really, but some poor soul might want them some day............

Never managed to get my rev counter to work from MS. Tried the various methods on Phils web pages, but nothing seemed to work, so the dizzy and coil are still there to give RPMs. Some day I'll have another bash at it. I've got an old dizzy to cut down for a plug as well.
