Any suggestions on where to go? Was thinking of heading down to the London Eye area - just not sure if it gets really crowded and shut off or whereabouts is best to go. Kids are 13 and 10 so looking for somewhere child friendly.

We'll be up in London for a few days before New Year so any 'interesting' stuff to do suggestions welcome (will probably do museums, couple of shows, cinema and no doubt will be fleeced in Trocadero too)

Avoid central london at all costs on news year eve.
If you do feel the need dont take any valuables and only enough money to get by with.
It will be really crowded and not much fun-lack of toilets, muggers, gropers etc.
It would not be my 1st choice of places to take kids.
Any where along the embankment you will get a view of the fireworks, but watching on tv is much safer and warmer
On new years day you have the parade-depending on ba as a lot of the marching bands if BA strike will be stuck in America

+1

Anywhere even vaguely near Trafalgar Square, the Eye and Embankment will be absoutely mobbed. Unless your kids are giants they won't see a thing. You will need to keep hold of them at all times otherwise you will get separated. Genuinely, I think it's a bad idea.

Bugger frown

Any suggestions of where to take them then?

Obviously most places are geared up for drunken adults - the idea was that they can stay up and just be there for the new year.

Hmmm, struggling to find anywhere frown

Tried a few restaurants that have views over the river but most are over-18 only that night.

All suggestions greatly appreciated...

Did this 30 years ago and had a fantastic time. How times have changed have heard so many bad stories some friends went a couple of years ago and suffered being pelted by mindless yobs throwing empty bottles into the crowd. My advice as others have said is stay well clear and enjoy something closer to home
