Well, I don't know about you, but it looks to me as though the vehicle is wholly over the stop line in the 2nd photograph. Still, I'm glad he fought the law (and won) - Streaky

I guess it comes down to the same fundamental point as with speed cameras. By crossing the stop line, he was breaking the law. By breaking the speed limit a driver breaks the law. Should the driver be prosecuted if the manouever is not dangerous - no in both cases, but technically it's possible to do so under the law.

An outstanding rant. A lesson to us all that it is not just the speed cameras that make mistakes, traffic light cameras can also screw up.

Remember the ballot box folks.

It would be interesting to know how long the amber alone is displayed at this light.

Certainly it appears that he stopped from 19 mph in less than a car length which could be used to derive deceleration rate.

Is it just me, or where I live - - or has anyone else noticed that the green to amber to red is getting shorter and shorter, whilst the red/amber to green is getting longer?

Yes another case of an innocent motorist who was just expected to "cough" up rather than question it. I mean, do we have high-profile court cases where flimsy evidence is offered?

"Yeah, we got some pictures of you doing it so just cough up".....bollox to that.

So, let me remember a few things then:

1) Incorrect and illegally enforced 30MPH zone
2) Incorrect and illegally placed speed camera - on the 60 zone rather than the 40 zone!
3) TfL randomly picking number plates to fine to make up the targets - even though you've never been to London
4) Incorrect evidence of running a red light
5) Incorrect evidence for speeding either 406 in a 30 or 56 (in fact 17) in a 30....

And we are told that the system is infalible and that we should all just cough up and pay. Well, bollox to that - why? They system cant be trusted any more. Its full of liars, cheats and thieves who rely on threats to cheat the public out of money. Its not good enough and MUST be stopped.....

Just how many people do we need to criminalise on false or incorrect charges before someone wakes up to the fact? I mean, my rough estimates we are into the 10,000 mark already - thats 10,000 people who are driving round paying more insurance, having the social stigma (ok pushing it a little there!) and having paid a fine for a CRIME THEY DIDNT COMMIT.....

All because some moron said that "Speed Kills"... Well I hope that they are happy....

Where's the mistake? The car is over the line. Blame the human who decided the setting or the human who set the camera; but the camera itself is not wrong ... the camera did not lie - Streaky

Do all NIP letters look like that? I'm only curious because the first one says

letter said:
We have evidence that you were the driver of the motor vehicle ****** at the time of the alleged offence...

The 'you were the driver' bit interests me - I can't see that guy's body on any of the pics, let alone anything to show he was driving. If I get one of those letters through the post, can I demand to see teh evidence that I was driving the car?

Surprised that they didn't charge with him with 'driving without due care and attention' seeing as he over shot the line!

Does that mean the cop in the the patrol car who overshot the white line at Astley lights (A580) this morning should expect a summons?

He was doing about 20mph when lights changed, and he slammed the brake! The lights in question are particularly evil - broad junction and non-existent amber! To my knowledge, there are three traffic lights with cameras in Manchester which do this - one is further down A580 at Atherleigh Way.

Who do you write to re settings as I think this is dangerous.

Read the whole sad story here on how amber times are being shortened to generate revenue. Read all parts for the full story.

Time your ambers and let us know for how long they are lit.

Liked the system I saw in Canada - warning light about 150 yards before the junction that flashed when the lights were going to change. Pass that warning when it's unlit and you know the light is going to stay green - pass it when it's flashing, and unless you hit the nitrous oxide Fast and Furious stylee, you're not making the junction. Certainly safer than people slowing down because they're having to second guess a green light. Seems sensible to me. Doesn't make any money though....
