E39 Drivers window not working
Discussion
Parked up in a local pub car park (aka an open field) the other night (the 1st REALLY freezing cold night).
Left at 11ish to come home, and none of the 4 windows would open - as they were 'iced' shut.
Anyhow - 3 of them eventually opened - but the drivers one does not. The motor makes the sound to open - but there's absolutely no movement from the glass itself. It then cuts itself off after a second or 2.
Any further 'down' presses makes no sound or does anything.
However, if you push it 'up' then it goes through the same sound motions - but no action.
Any common faults or known issues regarding windows? My only assumption is that it's come off the runners or guide. But it looks all OK, in place; and will not budge when I try to move it by hand.

That still sounds like it's stuck.
If a regulator arm pops out, you'll get an almighty bang, similar to someone bouncing a brick off the window.
The first press tells the motor to move, it tries, fails, and it has now assumed it's at the bottom of its travel, and stored this.
The next press is ignored as it can't go down any further.

Hi Kinky
I have exactly the same problem on my E39..caused by the ice too!!
did you manage to sort yours out? how did you go about it?
any help is appreciated..thanks
I'll be 100% honest ..... I've done bugger all about it (so far) I have exactly the same problem on my E39..caused by the ice too!!

I've not even looked at it yet. The intent was 100% genuine; but just been so tied up with work; and it's too damn cold to go outside. I will get around to it, but I'm not reliant or dependent on having a functioning window. Just damn annoying.
