Do some people on here adopt a default position against anything that goes against driving cars?

Obviously dealing with climate change will have a negative impact to some degree on driving, so are people just automatically adopting the stance that MMGW is wrong?

My position on Global warming is nothing to do with my interest in cars (or aircarft or any other technology). It's to do with mny interest in science, astronomy, physics and sense.

I thought it would be obvious from my postings elsewhere.

I am a confirmed sceptic (note - not a "denier").

I refuse to believe that the human race is significant enough to have that much of an impact on the planet. I believe in climate change, but only so far as that is what the climate does, it natually goes through phases and changes, and that's what it is doing.

Not at all . . . and dealing with climate change should have no impact on driving. Read the science, not the propaganda and then decide for yourself.

My Microsoft spell checker suggests Mug when asked to check MMGW . . . which I suspect is quite accurate smile

I disagree. The lack of any real scientific evidence of MMGW as opposed to GW is what makes me uncertain either way. The junk science churned out by the media doesn't help convince people either.

I find similar views amongst friends and work colleagues as I see on here. Most polls show a lack of acceptance of MMGW amongst the general population. It's a bit lazy to assume anyone who hasn't been convinced is holding a position due to their interests or hobbies.

My position has never really changed and originated while working for the gummint and managing large gummint contracts.

Everything the gummint does is wrong. There are obviously a few exceptions to this as not even top class idiots can get it wrong all the time, but generally everything they do is rubbish. Schools, health, universities, roads, trains, planes, TV, etc etc...

The car issue is minor really. It just falls under the same banner as everything else Nanny knows best (Nanny knows nothing actually) and we must have lots of new laws regularly introduced to make life more complicated than ever before. This is largely because nobody is ever elected on a platform of scrapping the last lots legislation.

The reason for not scrapping the last lots legislation is the Civil service would never allow it, which is why all CCs grade 1 to 7 should be sacked as each gummint is elected. If that does not work then sack back to HEO level.

In more drunken moments I might argue that the cause of the problem was allowing women into parliament as lets face it, it was Barbara Castle that introduced the 70mph speed limit, the stupid cow. She should be dug up and shot biggrin

Do you ask the same question of people who consume electricity?

Funny, most people's first posts are along the lines of "Hi, and my car's an X,Y or Z." smile

When you say 'dealing with climate change' if you actually mean 'getting assraped in the name of a new world order of communism wrapped up in the conveniently warm blanket of man made up global warming' then yes, I believe (as do others here) that will have a negative effect on my whole life; not just in the way I chose to transport myself around.
