Hey guys,

I am about to book my ticket for the f1 along with a mate. Im a Grand Prix Virgin so was just wondering if you could give me some advice on camping and parking. I was going to get my camping ticket from the silverstone.co.uk website but the only options it gives is lively and quiet so was wondering if there was any other options.

Also grandstand tickets, or general admission what is your opinion on this?

Also just some general advice and suggestions for the weekend would be great.

Cheers

1) We always use Whittlebury...trouble is all camp sites attract tts
2) Granstands are a good option as you have an allocated seat for the sunday, and roving for Friday & Saturday.

With willtlebury I can park the car next to the tent right???

Do you know if this is the same for the campsites that Silverstone advertise on their websites as you have to pay separately for parking and for camping?

You get one vehicle allowance, which is right next to your tent. Don't know about that advertised by Silverstone. Whittlebury has about all you need. We made the mistake of staying some place else one year...they closed the breakfast facilities to campers because they we doing some corporate stuff...that's taking the pee!

The times I attended i alays stayed in a small motorhome on the golf course camp site. Never had any problems, only a few years back when every tt and his Wife and his Kids had Go-peds hich they felt needed to be ridded at 1am. Strategic Violence sorted it out, and since then Security had clamped down on that behaviour certainly on the golf course site. If the German Fella IS coming back, you should be in for a good weekend!

Also we used to get Grandstand Tickets for the whole weekend. Friday and Saturday you could sit in ANY Grandstand seat, however that may have changed now (or quite possible my mate was lying to me...) We used to bar crawl round the whole track on the Saturday, quite a feat.... For the Race we always sat dead opposite the Pit Garages in the front row. Very nice for the build up and spectacle but when actually racing the cars came past SO fast i could not even read the numbers on the side, and ended up watching the whole race on the huge video screen above the pits!! With Hamilton v Button I would imagine pandamonium, so I would DEFINATELY get a Grandstand seat so you can be sure of actually seeing something!

Are you the owner? Cos we had a totally indifferent time when we left it too late to camp at Whittlebury.

In fact, now I've read your post again, you are definitely the owner. When we went the organisation was shocking, the toilet facilities disgraceful, food disgusting, and as already said the facilities were closed to campers on the Sunday morning to facilitate the corporates.

We may have been on an off year of course. (2008)Was it better last year?
