Heard a rather disturbing rumour tonight that it's no more (not even re-opening in spring next year as their fliers and website suggest).
I know there's a chap on here who ran nights there before the fire.
Anyone know anything concrete?
(I know they kitted the place out with some awesome sound desks and lights, and re-concreted the shell, but couldn't open till the main building, ie above Kushi's, was repaired).

I'm sure a promoter is well versed in QSing.
Best place to look is for the licensing applications to the council.
Pretty sure we'd have heard by now if the building wasn't salvageable. Given the number of fatalities a few years back with falling masonry, they'd have had it down by now if it was a goner. Think how quickly they tore down the Gilded Ballon etc on the Cowgate.

I run Madchester and yes it will not be open until end of April... I was inside a couple of weeks ago and I think end of April is pushing it.
Blimey - small world. 10/10 with your efforts in getting this club to where it is today. It is a far cry from 10+ years back when it was in the likes of 233 (i think) on the Cowgate. Still think La Belle was my favourite venue for it though.
I remember many moons ago organising a bunch of pals who hadn't been before to go to the Boxing Day bash in La Belle and walking down Chambers St with them and there wasn't a soul around. Before we got there a few murmours of discontent had started but the minute we got through the door the place was rocking. Superb!
This isn't a hint for freebies but i think i'll make a return when/if it goes back to the Liquid Rooms in April as i haven't been for a few years. Fingers crossed.
Without any shadow of a doubt the best music you could ever ask for. But then i am more than a little biased.

These were the days in la Belle... Was that the night that the weather was awful (wind & rain)... I remember turning up at the club thinking nobody is going to come out on a night like this, it was just horrific... signage, slates, brickwork falling from above... The place was rammed, it was jumping, tbh usually is every Boxing Day, lol.
Can't wait till we get back to Liquid Rooms in April... I have some big plans.
BTW... Welcome anytime Paul

this is brilliant news, after 2 years of living up here im fed up with edinburgh not having a proper club scene, hopefully this place will change it!
Well Madchester is still on at Faith on Cowgate every last Saturday of the month. I believe the Citrus Club down near Lothian Road does a weekly indie night too but I've still not got around to checking it out.Edited by Famous Graham on Thursday 31st December 00:16

Some decent nights on at Cab Voltaire though. Compakt is worth checking out.
Dominik Eulberg was at the caves a month or so ago too.

Sadly I'm now a lightweight, so could only make it until 3:30. Like the Carter love, mind - haven't heard Sheriff Fatman for far too long
