If there are 2 identical F355s, one with 30k miles and one with say 40k miles, what would/should the price difference be (all other things being equal) between them?

Or, to put it another way, if i buy a 30k miler privately, do 10k in 2 years, providing everything else is the same (market demand, condition of the car etc etc) how much value would it have lost if i then sold it privately?

Is it too impertinent to ask, how many miles has your Spider done?

Mileage isnt the only variable when trying to calculate the future value of car. in 2 years almost every single F355 will have an increase in mileage, moving the average mileage up, the overall condition of the car will affect its value far more.

Deprecition will also have more of an effect on value over two years than mileage.

As per Chas's post, the experience of ownership far outweighs the cost of entry smile

Not impertinent at all mate, it is what it is. Its now done just over 50K miles.
Its always been a fantastic and reliable car to. Twice a year it drives across Europe in it to Monaco, Germany and Italy. As well as the Le mans.
To many Ferrari owners are scared to death to take there cars to the next village.
I wrote the value of this car of when i bought it. I bought it to drive and enjoy, and boy do i drive and enjoy it. Apart from the usual servicing/belt changes, i had the seats covered with new leather 3 years ago. A great Ferrari and in the proper original colour Rosso to. And it sounds like the proverbial bd to biggrinhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqRNLJL9uEc

haha! okay, i realise all that, i guess what i'm trying to discover is how much more a dealer may charge if he had, say, 2 F355s in similar condition, and one had 10k more miles on it than the other

Why not just click onto the many ferrari dealers and compare the prices.
Verdi has a couple of same year cars just for starters http://www.verdi-ferrari.com/stock.asp?s=192
Checking the dealer websites will give you some idea. That walkersport bloke might be along soon with his dealer experience to.

When I was buying mine looked about and lots of the 15-20k mile cars were in much worse condition that the 40k mile car I ended up with that has already done lots more miles and will continue to as it was bought to use daily!

I've had my 348 since August 08 and have done 7k in it. Its now showing 45k and it has never missed a beat - It feels very tight to drive and goes like a rocket. My mate has a 355 GTS done 51k and is one of the cleanest ones out there. You have to drive them to keep them operating correctly. I try to use mine once a week and it gets a real thrashing when I drive it !!!

I would never be put off by a higher mileage car - I would buy the best car based on condition, history and how it drives.

certainly a lot less percentagewise than if you purchased a 2 year old Focus or 5 series BMW in the same scenario.
