I have just been labelled a 'pervert'. I was playing in the snow with my 2 year old in my front garden. My wife passed me our camera so I could take some pics of her playing in the snow for the first time. Unbeknown to me, as I took one pic some little scroat walked past and then began hurling abuse at me. I quote:
'Wot ya foto-in me for ya fat '
'Excuse me?'
'You, ya fkin tekkin pik-chers oh me yeh daft prick arm coalin the porlice'

He then proceeds to walk over to his bunch of fellow chavs which has congregated at the bottom of the street.
'That fkin paedos foto-graffin me, es a wker'
'Who?'
'Im'
'HEY DAFT WHAT YA DOING TEKKIN PIK-CHERS OF ME MERT FOH YA fkIN PERVERT '
I can then hear a plan to 'sort me out' being hatched, at which point I decide that the best course of action is to head indoors, much to the dismay of my daughter who was thoroughly enjoying playing in the snow. My point is, why in modern British culture are people so quick to label others perverts & paedophiles? Is anyone with a camera now a pervert? Or with a beard? Or who drives a Senator? It's a sad state of affairs!

I don't think that the people you encountered were very cutural!

Can't you move to a nicer area?

No, it just sounds like they were trying to cause trouble - had you been without a camera it would have been "wot u lookin at" etc.

Best to stay out of their way when it's near your home, avoid any worries of them coming back when you're not there and troubling your wife.

Every country I've ever been to has had its fair share of subhuman peasantry. You just have the misfortune to live near some of ours.

It's because the Daily Sport and The Sun tell them that's what's happening and they don't have the brain power to disbelieve it. Of course, in this case, it could be the usual knuckle dragging mouth breather looking to assert his authority over anyone they can find.

Would love to - unfortunately won't be in a position to for a while (why did I listen to my old man and buy instead of renting banghead )

I think you'll find it's more the underclass of the UK looking for a reason to be confrontational and aggressive. If it's not you being a peadophile, it's a foreigner being a terrorist, a celtic supporter being a fenian or, if there's no obvious route to confrontation, "Wot you lookin' at?".

Yes but it's a bit of a 'Work In Progress' at the mo (building a few bits out there so lots of wood and nails lying around)

Yes that would go down well. The Police would be knocking at my door within seconds - just like they were when we were burgled. Oh hang on, that's not right.... rolleyes

They can't be the brightest sparks threatening to beat someone up who is holding a camera.

What genuinely scares me is that in the area I used to live was a guy that everyone knew, as an indisputable fact, was a sick paedophile. When asked why, nobody knew what he had done, and what time he had served, only that he was definetely a pervert. Tongues can be a viscious weapon!

That's what makes me laugh; I was pointing the camera down at my 2 year old who was standing 4 feet away from me, the scroat was 40 feet away in a totally different direction. When he started mouthing off, the camera was still pointing down at her, but then again, the education standards around here are pretty dire; explaining that the camera was at an unsuitable angle to photograph him, and that the autofocus would have picked up the heavy snowfall around us and not him would have been way too complex.

What really grates me about this is that your little 'un had to hear them words. A 2 year old (Or anyone upto there teenage years) shouldnt be exposed to that sort of language!

Just for the avoidance of doubt you understand, could you confirm how many of the following things you have?

1. Camera
2. Beard
3. Vauxhall Senator

Unfortunately in today's society more and more kids are exposed to much worse things than bad language which is where the mentality that I've been exposed to this evening has its roots.

As long as the strange spot stays soft when in the presence of a Senator, I guess you're in the clear.
