Anyone got any advice here? I fancy a roof rack for my 110 CSW so I can relocate the spare wheel up there as well as have a bank of lights at the front and a work light at the back.

I hear that Frontrunner ones are the best? Would appreciate any views. Thanks.

Can't comment on whether others have this but the Hannibal has a full length gutter "weight spreader" and is supposed to be able to take a tonne in weight (on a 90 - could be more on a 110). Its bed is in the fore-aft orientation, supposedly to cut down on wind noise, and there's a really nice extruded ali ladder for the back as part of the kit.

I think Liveridge claims it's the best one available. My brother bought one for his 90. He's a "money no object" sort of chap.

Gratuitous partly-relevant picture:

I went for a Patriot who's quality is second to none. I opted to go for one of these as I wanted to have a roof tent uptop so wanted the edge runners to stop at a particular point on the sides (10cm in front of the tent. - Couldn't have been easier - sent them a diagram on what I wanted - couple of weeks later - they sent me a huge box of bits which when bolted together was exactly what I wanted.

Putting a spare wheel up-top will make you a tad top heavy. I've got a worklight also - but it's mounted on the rear top panel.

The Patriot can come with a rear mount ladder which makes access to the top much easier.

It's the style I like. Zus are alloys rather than steel, yes? I think they're better unless you're into rock crawling.

Looks black in the pic.

Yes - alloys. I'm still not sure about Mach 5's rating for loads. I don't think they're rated for a 110 for example. I've seen some of the welding on the rims of the Mach 5's and their look alikes. I wouldn't trust my truck on them.

Zus are TUV approved if I remember an ad in one of the Landy mags. They're nicely over-spec'd... like most other things on a Landy (except the wiring I suppose smile ).

Your car looks totally awesome. If you'll pardon the expression : nice rack!

Do you mind if I ask how much it cost and where you got it from?

Does it matter if it's a bit more top heavy? I rarely go off road (twice a year) and even then it's just a bit of greenlaning. Nothing extreme.

Do you need a flat rack for a roof tent then? I guess this is the reason why you put the elevated part of the rack at the front of the car rather than at the rear?

Sorry for all the questions! I'm learning!

By the way, brother says the Hannibal comes with different sides (to order) to accommodate roof tents.

Thanks - I'm pleased with it.

I got mine through - Racks Direct for the rack and ladder, made up to my spec and powder coated in black it was according to my records £1121 as I said - not cheap but it's taken everything I've thrown at it in its stride. Have a chat with the guys at RacksDirect and I'm sure they'll advise you whats best for your needs.

Here's the write up I did when I had fitted it As part of a blog
The complete blog is here if you're interested in the joys of owning and upgrading a landrover. (in reverse order so start at the bottom).

Top heavy roofs especially one sided makes cornering fun/interesting as it moves your centre of balance.

You'll see on the blog pictures - the whole thing is flat, there is no elevated piece - I just wanted the luggage rails to stop short of where the tent was going to be fitted. I put the tent on the rear as it opens outwards and enables me to have some protection if it's raining when in the back door of the truck. If it take the tent off - I've got one big flat area to work with.

Hope this helps...
