Hello chaps
Long story short, Got to new york airport after a connecting flight on my way back to london, got on the virgin flight to london with a few minutes to spare which was then de-iced (snowstorm in NY) but spent too long getting to the runway and then drove around the airport for 6 hours looking for somewhere else to get de-iced (clearly a popular thing to do) and then returned to the gate because the crew allotments were up. Next flight out is in 23 hours (and counting). They booked me into the Marriot in Long island, promises of warm rooms and free meals were made, and then we were informed that the shuttle buses are too stuck in traffic to come. wkers.
So, today's challenge is to find me a makeshift bed that is more comfortable than granite tiles and a suitcase full of shoes.
Winner gets a first penguin certificate in trampology.
Loser gets my chiropractor bill.

I've just set up an office using a table I found and a trolley.

hehe Have you got a pen & paper?

Draw yourself a sign for the desk.... some thing along the lines of 'Derrie-Air' and see how many fake tickets you can sell to unsuspecting Americans.

I'm hidden behind one of those spinning bag wrapping machines because it was the only place i could find a power socket! I doubt I would get many customers. The constant whirring and vibration make it hard to concentrate, but it's cheaper than the massage chairs (which people are sleeping on anyway). I jsut went to try and use a payphone but there are 3 rows of people asleep in front of them.

If there is a Tie Rack or similar near by get a few ties then you could fashion some sort of hammock.

tried that with the check in desk, since the failed to get me a hotel, and was told that I wasn't dressed appropriately (also, I probably fking pong by now biggrin). Going to empty my suitcase onto the floor and sleep on that fora while I think. It's still nipple-shatteringly cold though, I could swear they have the fking air con on.

And here Sir, lieth your bed.

Choose wisely. A woman who has bred well may be most comfortable.

Haha, I'm not sure some of them would notice.
Some of the more perceptive may have noticed that a plan involving sleeping on a suitcase filled mostly with shoes has failed, hence this response.

Ask someone where the Prayer Room is, they are usually quieter and more comfortable then the rest of the airport and tucked away from the masses wink

Also, if that room in the Marriott is still available - perhaps try and get there anyway. I don't remember the exact station but you get the air-train a few stops and switch to the Long Island Rail Road which may or may not take you near to the Marriott (having no idea where that is!)

Of course that's all assuming the trains are running OK! Just some food for thought as I bloody hate being stuck in airports so can sympathise (from my lovely warm bed!)

No good for the Marriott, its in Uniondale, however LIRR to Garden City and the hotel is opposite the station, you will find some familiar people in there too
Even worse I'm afraid, a bus turned up, dropped us off and then it turns out they were full and Virgin never rang to check. 4 hours round trip for fk all. i am absolutely fuming and think one of my kidneys disintegrated while holding ina coffee induced piss for half an hour.
