"Google pay no British tax on £1.6Billion UK revenues"
Tax rates up. tax takes down.
To all of you who think stealing banks and other industries' money is a clever, noble thing to do.....be warned!

You want to know how to make the UK prosper?
How to make the workers richer?
CUT - SLASH, ALL TAX. NOW!
The multiplier effects are/would be biblical and this is the central tenet of the conviction.
VAT is a complete scam and income tax should have been repealed nearly two centuries ago.
Alas, we are ruled by self serving scum who are little more than feudal overlords but without the requisite beneficence or class and people, en masse, conned by the myth of grand social provision (because they have known little else) can conceive of no alternative.
It would be a piece of piss to have an effective infrastructure without 90% of the bureaucracy which guaranteed the bulk of the population a massive rise in wealth.
You need the political will to focus almost exclusively on assuring the maximisation of individual and corporate wallets and the economy will take care of itself.
This always went down like a lead balloon with the communists when I hurled abuse their way as a slightly right of centre Che Geuvara back when but as now, none of them could imagine the massive said rises in private wealth.
To paraquote Gekko, Governments should be liberators of wealth, not captors of it with only a gentle hand of enlightened tillage for those moments of sensible, socio-economic need.
Albion needs a damn dictator with balls.
Having abolished VAT, capital gains, death duty and cut income tax to 10% flat with a ceiling at £100k, I would immediately revive TVR and Rover as a state owned entities (with an objective to sell it off to The Duke of Westminster within 3-5 years,) initially funded by the removal of 50% of all traffic wardens. The remaining 50% of wardens would be sacked then re-employed building said vehicles.
See, sensible policoes for a happier Britain, f@cking easy and let's say it what's more productive?

Should be lucky they even bother to have an office in the EU, let alone the UK. Its an "internet" business and as such, makes no difference if our Google monthly bill is in $ or £ frankly."Google pay no British tax on £1.6Billion UK revenues"

It's quite amazing.
Tax rises are nothing more than an Election move, to try and gain the vote of the poor.
Yet, in doing so, they are actually hurting the economy, and also the poor, as businesses move abroad or cut back on expenditure, which means less jobs for the poor, and less tax revenue.
How is it, that even I (a simple layman) can see that increasing taxes in the current climate is totally the wrong thing to do?

The attitude of the Labour loons astonishes me. Frankly the Irish are lucky that Google pays any tax in Ireland. Google is a multi-national. It will recognise revenue in the most advantageous tax regime.
New Labour now think they should be taxing Americans!?

what will happen is the rich will move to countries with lower taxes and the little people will be stuck here paying higher taxes....what this government fails to realise is that with a lower tax base there will be less tax revenue so raising taxes will just bring in the same revenue as before.....whats the point, whats the point of anything this government does....
ultimately there is no future for this country if we go on with this mindless legislation and bureacracy, it will stunt enterprise and diminish our global competitiveness.....

what I want to know is why the public spending goes up no matter what the tax bill is??
Then all the Government does is think... 'Oh s
t we over spent... nevermind we shall increase taxes and get some money back?'
If these people get into this job because they are voted in and I presume they must have financial background to do something like the Economics of UK, then how do they get it so wrong that most of the normal people (not chavs and those milking the system) can do a better job in their sleep, but the government still insist on bringing in changes that do more harm then good??
Surely they should employ a company to come in and revamp the whole Public sector and weed out the crap and make it a slimline working sector again rather than the blood sucking parasite it is now... Or at least do that before its too late?

You no doubt already know the answer, but let’s look at head finance bods since 1997G "winky" Brown - pre political career
1. Academic – politics - Glasgow College of Technology
2. Journalist - politics - Scottish TV
Alistair "Slug Brow" Darling - pre political career
1. Solicitor - provincial - no specialty
2. Councillor - responsible for massive council tax rises against then current government guidelines
So definitely two men who have every qualification and the ooodles of experience needed to run a large and complex organisation with a turnover of many billions a year.

We are just fighting this now, how much time do you spend working in each country, and for whose benefit is that work? Typical questions. Each countries tax inspectors are all enviously looking at potential tax take and believe that people are deliberately choosing where to live and work simply to swizz them out of some revenue.
Problem is that tax systems are not uniform.
Someone may be taxed in a country where personal tax is low, but local Government tax and VAT is high. Another may be taxed in an economy with a different set up.
You have to look at the overall picture, yet the tax inspectors so far aiui are not looking at it that way. Civil servants, neither civil nor providing very good service.
