Thanks, they have some VREDESTEIN in my size at a pretty decent price but they don't appear to be run flats. I don't have much experience of this brand.

I'm in the third season and of running those Vredesteins on my 535d touring and they seem to work quite well. I've twice encountered heavy snow on the continent and the car was very sure footed with more grip than I would have expected.

Thanks for the input, how do they perform in the wet and is there any noticable increase in road noise ? Do you have a spare or just a can of foam for puncture?

I would just carry a can of foam, this is what was standard issue on the E39 M5 anyway, and enjoy the fact that you have so much better traction with winter tyres!

Do you have a spare set of alloys to go with the winter tyres or they swapped on and off your normal ones ? Read somewhere that tyres dont like being taken off and put back on or something to that effect.

I am running Dunlop Winter SP's on my A6 avant, I am really pleased with them, I have been back and forth to the north norfolk coast on snow covered roads no problem at all.

I would however buy a set of wheels off ebay for your 535d with winter tyres on them, for a start you want the same size all round for winter tyres ideally, and narrower as well.

Something like this would be ideal.....

They're fine in the wet but I don't push the car too hard. After 2 seasons ( as estimated 10K miles) the fronts are still at 7mm although nearside rear is down to 4mm. They're only slightly noisier than the summer tyres. I have them on a set of 17s I bought on ebay for circa £100 so I just swap wheels in Dec and March/April. The car doesn't have run flats so there's a space-saver spare plus a can of sealant in the boot.
